The God Of All Comfort

How did this happen?  How did I get off-track?  Those are just a few of the questions I’ve been asking myself since attending an awesome Christian womens writer’s conference this past weekend.

I’m not really sure what the answers are – all I know is that it has happened.

The writing of my first book The God of All Comfort came about a few years ago, and covers the trials and heartbreak my family endured.  And that’s also how this blog and my Facebook page with the same name got started.  My heart, and I believe my calling, is to share hope to those who are struggling with pain and heartache.  We all need to be encouraged – because we all have times of hurt.  We need those continual reminders that our Lord Jesus has promised to always be with us (Hebrews 13:5), no matter what.

I was convicted this last week that somehow as time has passed I’ve taken a detour from what I’m to be focusing on.  I’ve veered off occasionally to talk about a lot of different things – some of which really have nothing to do with the whole backdrop of my ministry.

This conference knocked me on the head a bit about staying in my niche – “The God of All Comfort.”  So for those of you who have been following my blog faithfully – I apologize.  I thank you that you’ve continued to support me!

So starting now I’m going to be doing a little rewind.  I’m going to get back to what I believe I need to be writing about:  Comfort through losing loved ones, raising “special” kids, and forgiving yourself when you mess up – as guilt can be a horrible thing to carry on your back.  I hope and pray that my words will reignite your passion and love for the Lord Jesus; and if you are not a Christian, that you will realize that there is a God who loves you unconditionally, and is waiting for you to call out to Him.

In closing, let me take a moment to speak particularly to those who have lost children or loved ones.  Please remember that God knows all our hearts, so I pray that these words from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NLT) will fill you with joy and hope – as they have my husband and me:

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.  For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.

We tell you this directly from the Lord:  We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God.  First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  Then we will be with the Lord forever  So encourage each other with these words.
